Once the scope of Jackson's expansion became clear, I checked out. The story, to me, is too slight for all of this, and I don't want to sit through untold hours more of New Zealand travelogue. The Rings films were bloated. The Hobbit films strike me as arriving at your door morbidly obese and struggling up the steps.<br /><br />John Carter: I tell everyone I meet to skip the opening prologue. Skip forward to the little guy wandering around in the old timey mud. That's where the movie starts. John Carter should have filled the theaters. It was killed by miserable marketeers who had no idea what the hell they had. Kids it has a TOAD DOG!!! Just the right amount of skin and romance for young minded adults and- did I mention the TOAD DOG!?!
